Our Leadership

Pastor

Joe Smith was ordained as the teaching elder of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church in August 2022. He attended the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary from 2019-2022 and graduated with his Master of Divinity degree in May 2022.

Through the evangelistic efforts of his aunt and uncle he was converted in the fall of 2015. After being introduced to reformed theology through the online ministry of R.C. Sproul Joe became a member of the RPCNA in May 2017.

He was born and raised in central Indiana. Before going off to seminary with the blessing of his session and under the care of his presbytery he worked for a local Sanitation Department for just over 12 years (a dirty job!). The Lord has blessed him with a wonderful wife and four precious children.

Elders

Paul Welander was ordained as an elder in 2015. Prior to that he served as a deacon for 8 years. God has blessed Paul with a wonderful wife and son.

Paul loves to see the people of God grow in their trust in Jesus in all areas of their lives.

In his spare time, Paul can be found hiking Colorado’s 14ers and 13ers (only 547 to go until he finishes), building toy roller coasters with his wife and son and reading. Paul works in the architectural design field.

Jonathan Fitch was born and raised in Georgia by Christian parents who brought him up in the Reformed faith. Jonathan was convicted of his sin and his need for salvation through Christ as a teenager, which sparked a love for the Word of God that continues to this day. Jonathan and his family began visiting Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church in 2016. He became a communicant member in 2017 and was ordained and installed as a ruling elder in 2021.

What Jonathan appreciates the most about WRPC is the fellowship and genuine love that the people of the congregation have for one another, as well as their desire to learn about God's Word and share it with others. It's his desire to continue to grow in knowledge and wisdom in Christ, and in applying God's Word to better serve Christ's Church. After moving to Colorado in 2006, Jonathan married his wife, Amy, and they now have four children. Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, reading, cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs, and serving the WRPC congregation. Jonathan works for an IT company in the Denver area.

Elder Emeritus

John Duke was a charter member of the congregation when it was first organized back in 1973. He served first as a deacon for 8 years, and then was ordained as a ruling elder in 1981 – a role he has continued in to the present. Now retired, he previously worked in the accounting and finance area, and often as a small business entrepreneur.

John served for many years on both the RPCNA’s Presbytery and Synod Finance committees, and as President of Synod’s Board of Trustees. A passion of his has been the ministry of the presbytery’s annual Family Camp/Conference for which he has served for many years on the planning committee as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Horn Creek Conference Grounds Ministry that hosted the annual Family Camps.

John especially appreciates the congregation’s strong unity, which flows from a shared commitment to a biblically reformed understanding of the Scriptures accompanied by a common desire to grow in Grace both in understanding and in life. He also appreciates the congregation’s love of fellowship, evidenced in part by how long folks stick around following worship and other meetings – long after the event itself is over.

John and his wife, Kathy, have three children, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. All live close by. In fact, John and Kathy, along with their son, his wife and their six children, intentionally bought a large house together, in which they live and serve one another in a multi-generational setting – always with three generations and at times with four generations involved.

Deacons

Alex Greene (Deacon Chairman) was blessed to grow up in a Christian family with parents who stressed the importance of reading the Bible daily and sitting weekly under the sound teaching of the Word of God. Though he cannot point to a specific date wherein the Lord took ahold of his heart and applied saving faith, it is important to consider that at some point a person can no longer rely on the faith of their parents but must struggle through the teachings of the scripture and accept Christ as Savior and King of their life, which he has.

He has been attending the Westminster Reformed congregation since 2004, started serving as a deacon since September of 2015, and took over the role of the Deacon Chairman officially in 2021. He is thankful to the congregation for allowing him to use his gifts of service in an official office in the church. He hopes to continue to learn from his experiences on the deacon board and grow his ability to serve his local congregation and the greater church body.

He currently works as an Electrical Engineer at Engineering company located in Denver. A little more than half a year into his service as a deacon, his job transferred him down to a field engineering role southwest of Houston Texas to provide engineering support. It was during this time where he met his future wife, Bailey. Recently, the Lord grew his family with the addition of a daughter, Olivia. He enjoys a broad range of hobbies such as outdoor activities, running, watching sports, reading, and writing.

Jeremiah Wood is a recently installed deacon at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church. Jeremiah and his wife Alison have been Presbyterians and members of WRPC for 4 years and host prayer meetings in their home. Jeremiah also serves as the chairman of the Audio / Video committee at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church and teaches Sunday school for young adults.

Jeremiah works as an Account Manager for an IT company, and works to serve people not only in his profession, but to also serve people in the Church in the service of Christ. Jeremiah and his wife Alison have three beautiful children who are a joy and blessing in their home. Some of his hobbies include learning and teaching theology, spending time with the saints, collecting rocks, helping people with computer problems, and spending time with his family.

Chris Johnson is a recently installed deacon at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church. Chris and his wife Ashley have been Presbyterians and members of WRPC for 4 years. Chris also serves as the chairman of the Evangelism committee. Chris has heart for the lost having been raised outside of a Christian home and being converted later in life at age 24. The Johnson’s love sharing their lives and serving alongside their brothers and sisters at WRPC. Chris is a lifelong martial artist and moved with his Wife Ashley to Denver in 2016 to train with his head MMA coach.

Chris now works as an Route manager for Orkin pest control and loves his job. Chris and Ashley have two wonderful children that they love spending time with. Chris’s hobbies include studying theology, going to the park with his family, martial arts, weight lifting, watching movies, eating food, and most of all date nights with his beautiful bride.
